Vandals damage fences in Epworth
Vandals have struck in Epworth, North Lincolnshire, damaging security fencing
in the Fieldside area of the town.
Police and neighbourhood patrol officers have begun conducting high visibility beats around the area after it became a hotspot for anti-social and delinquent behaviour. Fencing all over Epworth is feared to be at risk after vandals targeted perimeter barriers around the town.
The South Yorkshire Times reported that residents are being urged to report any suspicious activity to the police. There is more urgency to clamp down on vandals after a youth was arrested by local officers but was released without charge because of insufficient evidence.
It comes after North Lincolnshire police accused trouble makers of causing danger to drivers by throwing stones off a bridge in Scunthorpe.
A spokesman said: "It is sad that we have had to close the bridge especially when we only installed it a few weeks ago. But our priority is to protect motorists."
