Building firms urged to use security fencing

Building firms urged to use security fencing
Construction companies have been reminded of the need to use security fencing on building sites

It is important that members of the public, especially youngsters, are deterred from trying to enter construction sites as they can be dangerous places.

In a recent court case, a firm was fined for failing to ensure the security of a site it was operating.

According to an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the site contained asbestos and therefore posed serious dangers to workers and civilians.

Inspectors from the HSE found asbestos-containing materials in various places around the site, which people could easily have come into contact with.

The Fire Protection Association has recommended that construction sites should be afforded the maximum security to prevent public access and also to reduce the risk of arson.

Deliberately-started fires are not uncommon in buildings under construction, making security fencing essential.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800412053-ADNFCR
