A security fence has been erected around a field which is home to a local youth football club to keep dog walkers off the pitch in Sheffield.

Officials at the club Tickhill Juniors FC, were forced to put up a post and wire mesh fence around their pitch because dog owners have continued to allow their pets to foul on the football pitches, reported the Star.

The fence, which also includes several padlocked steel gates for extra security, is now considered private land with a notice prohibiting access. It states that all trespassers will be prosecuted.

According to the newspaper, the action to build the fence was decided as a last resort after the football club made several appeals for dog owners to keep clear of the pitch as the aspiring footballers were getting dog foul on them during matches.
