Play area fencing could be installed in a Cornwall village after an 80-year-old grandmother started a campaign to have a new playground installed.

Doreen Beecroft is encouraging youngsters in their sponsored cycle ride, set to take place this weekend (September 10th), after expressing her concerns to the local parish council in Crackington Haven.

Now, a steering group has been set up to look into plans and a playground area, which will also be used for adult picnics, could be set up if funding is raised, reports thisiscornwall.co.uk.

Mrs Beecroft told the news provider that more needs to be done to encourage the younger generation into the fresh air.

"We are all being encouraged to get the youngsters away from their computers and TV to get fit but when we do this they are discouraged by having nowhere to play safely," she explained.

Barrington will also have play area fencing in the near future after £100,000 was raised by five charities in the area.
