Play area fencing has been installed in Great Easton after a kind donation from a farmer who died of a brain tumour last year.
Nick Clarke left a piece of land for the village before he was diagnosed with the illness but did not get to see the end result.
The park, titled Clarke's Piece, was opened last weekend by Mr Clarke's window Jayne and his two daughters to the delight of the local village, reports the Lutterworth Mail.
Charlie Jefferson, chairman of Great Easton Recreation Ground Committee, told the news provider that plans for a new park go a long way back in history.
"Looking back at parish records the parish council were talking about getting a recreation ground since the 1890s," he said.
"Eventually eight or ten years ago Nick Clarke, a local farmer in the area, went to see the local chairman of the parish council."
Podsmead will also require play area fencing after being given a £5,000 grant.
