A Henley resident has had nine security bollards installed outside of his home to stop people parking on the pavement.

Nick Bastian, the father of Strictly Come Dancing star Ali Bastian, has been criticised by local residents because they believe they had not been consulted.

However, after Oxfordshire County Council said that they cannot pay for the works, Mr Bastian paid the £2,000 cost out of his own pocket, reports the Henley Standard.

Speaking to the news provider, Mr Bastian explained why he paid for the security bollards himself.

"They talked about putting bollards in but said they couldn't afford to do it but if I wanted to pay for the work they would get an approved highways contractor in," he explained.

"It was a contribution to the community we were pleased to make."

Earlier this week, bollards were placed outside a retirement home in Tenby as residents and police fight back against anti-social parking.
