A man has been bailed until March after he was arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences.
It came after a drunken joyrider crashed one of Colchester Council's gardening buggies after it was stolen from Castle Park.
New railings are also needed in the town after a bus was stolen from Queen Street and driven off the road.
A spokesperson for the council, told the Daily Gazette that there was a break-in at Castle Park, with several gates being damaged in the rampage.
"A bus was stopped in Queen Street being driven in an erratic manner. It had struck nearby railings. The driver was arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences," said an Essex Police representative.
The source reported that in September last year another bus was taken from Queen Street before it also crashed into railings, causing around £4,000 of damage in the process.
Earlier this month, it was reported that councillors were still drawing up plans for a new bus station in Colchester, with the Queen Street facility being a temporary home.
