Plans to regenerate areas of moorland in the Peak District are well underway, as the latest phase of the Kinder Fence Project gets underway.
A second length of security fencing is being installed, which will help keep sheep away from moorland where peat has become degraded or bare.
The security fencing will span six miles along Seal Edge, Blackden Moor, Grindsbrook, Grindslow Knoll and East Crowden and will have several access points that can be used by walkers.
Mike Innerdale, general manager for the National Trust in the Peak District, said: "Kinder Scout is one of the most iconic landscapes in the Peak District because of its vast open moorland, the wildlife that it is home to and because it was the setting for the Mass Trespass."
He also warned that it is one of the most damaged areas of moorland in the country, mainly due to wildfires, overgrazing, air pollution and the fact it is so popular with walkers.
