Play area fencing and equipment that was damaged in a recent fire is soon to reopen to members of the public.

Skeltons Lane Park in Leyton was set ablaze on October 6th in what is believed to have been a deliberate attack and is set to be safe to use again on October 21st.

Waltham Forest's cabinet member for leisure Councillor Geraldine Reardon said the attack had been carried out by a "pathetic minority" and caused harm to the whole community.

Speaking to the East London and West Essex Guardian Series, she said: "Skeltons Lane Park in particular is a brilliant local amenity and is widely used, so I'm sure even this temporary closure will be keenly felt."

It was recently announced that the Miners' Welfare Recreation Ground in Chilton will be closed at weekends throughout the summer, as there are not enough staff to man the location.
