Security fencing has gone up at the now former spot of a "short-cut" in the latest effort from active residents to tackle antisocial behaviour in a village near Selby.
The security fencing, which cost £3,000, has been erected between Barlby Crescent and Riverside Close because it was attracting litter, vandalism and late-night noise, reported the Yorkshire Post.
Councillor Bill Inness, chairman of the Eastern Area Forum said residents had taken up the opportunity of forum meetings to express their concerns about the antisocial behaviour, from which the authorities decided to take action.
He told the newspaper: "This has been an innovative scheme that has seen the Eastern CEF work hard at linking up with other organisations, including Barlby parish council, to tackle anti social behaviour."
In a similar story, residents in the city of Bradford persuaded the council to put up £5,000 metal gates to "shut out" racist yobs.
