Security fencing is set to go up at the proposed new site of a school in Inverclyde which is being extended.
Gourock High is set to be refurbished and widened after which it will also be seen as a replacement for St. Columba's High, reported Inverclyde Now.
Security fencing, which will be five-metres tall, will go around the north-west of the school and around the sports pitch.
The newspaper reported that the development will involve the use of 9,600 square metres of open land at Tower Hill, which is seen by some as a beauty spot.
Consequently, this proposed development has attracted some criticism from people who feel it will impact on wildlife and the "setting" of Tower Hill. A total of 20 objections have so far been received.
A new two-storey extension, increased parking spaces and new soft and hard landscaping will be introduced onto nearby land.
A school in Suffolk recently put up security fencing around a nearby woodland area as part of its plan to become a forest school. The fencing will allow school children to engage in "back-to-nature" learning.
