A Scottish Highland town is becoming victim to a spate of graffiti with vandals targeting a defunct cinema, a bus stop and security fencing.

Councillors in Thurso have described the action of these people as "disappointing" and believe that it is damaging the appearance of the normally picturesque remote town.

Don Smith, community council chairman, has claimed that the actions of these vandals is damaging the reputation of the area and aims to put a stop to the ongoing problem.

Many towns are in the same situation as Thurso, as many councillors have attempted to stop damage to cemeteries and community areas by installing high security fencing or a range of bollards.

Mr Smith told the John O'Groat Journal: "It is disappointing for us to hear that there seems to be a new outbreak occurring in Thurso but hopefully the issue can be resolved. We could do without that sort of carry on again."
