A horrific allotment attack that left scores of animals dead has been condemned by gardeners and police in Bridlington.

The malicious act highlights the importance of protecting livestock with high security fencing.

Police believe that the attack was deliberate and was the result of someone putting a dog in the enclosure.

Some 30 chickens, hens and ducks were either killed or seriously injured in the attack.

"Why would anyone want to do this? Someone has deliberately put a dog in which has gone on a killing spree. It is even possible the sickos filmed it on mobile phones," local resident Stephen Wiseman told the Bridlington Free Press.

"The police came and confirmed it was not a fox but a dog and the only way it could have killed my livestock is by being deliberately put into the compound," he added.

This year, high security fencing is being used at Wimbledon to protect the tennis courts from pests such as foxes.ADNFCR-3337-ID-19869364-ADNFCR
