The American Thinker has bemoaned US president Barack Obama's lack of action on border control in the southern States.
According to the news provider's Jeff Lukens, before Obama became president he voted for a Department of Homeland Security policy to create a 700-mile double-layer high security fence to reduce the number of illegal immigrants making it into the country.
However, Lukens claims that just 34.3 miles of the security fencing has been erected so far.
"So far, all efforts to secure the border have failed," Lukens claimed.
He added: "The main solution to our illegal immigration problem begins with controlling the border, and controlling the border starts with building a fence."
Lukens concluded that once a high security fence was in place, other aspects of the legal immigration system would be easier to control.
According to the Financial Times, Obama's decision to send 1,200 soldiers to the US/Mexico border is similar policy to former-President George W Bush.
