New traffic barriers will be installed along a stretch of a road in Leicester, it has been stated.
Close to two miles of security fencing costing £1.5 million will be erected along Narborough Road South, according to the BBC.
The traffic barriers will be made from recycled plastic.
The work, due to begin today, and which will last around 5 months, comes after security fencing was trialled on the southbound part of the road earlier this year.
The local council said it hoped the new security fencing would improve the area.
Lesley Pendleton, cabinet member for environment and transport at Leicestershire County Council, told the news provider: "We want to make the environment a more attractive one for residents, and give a better first impression to people travelling from the nearby motorway junction and other routes.
"With a scheme of this size, some inconvenience to drivers is inevitable, but we have organised the work to minimise congestion and reduce the impact during peak hours."
Earlier this month it was reported that crash barriers were desperately needed on a busy road in Wigan.
