Traffic barriers have been installed to act as a pedestrian guardrail at an annual horse and travelling fair in Brigg, Scunthorpe.
According to thisiscunthorpe.co.uk, the temporary fencing solutions have been put up as a safety measure to protect both people and horses.
A spokesman for North Lincolnshire Council told the news provider "It's not an official horse fair. We have a duty to ensure people's safety.
"We will barrier off Station Road so that pedestrians are kept separate from horses."
The popular event attracted 20,000 visitors in 2000 and is a major date in the calendar of folk history enthusiasts. Tom Glossop, a councillor in Brigg, said travellers think of the horse fair as their "summer holidays".
In addition to the security fencing, the council spokesman told the news provider that stewards would monitor the event and car flow would be properly organised, along with the presence of neighbourhood officers.
Some 3,000 people are expected this year.
Last month, Scarborough Borough Council installed £40,000 worth of high security fencing for the Seamer Horse Fair.
