Workers pushed ahead with the G20 conference's high security fencing programme this weekend and have almost completed the job.

The G20 is convening in Toronto on June 26th and 27th and the heightened risk to both delegates and local businesses is being dealt with using a temporary security fencing solution.

Speaking to the Toronto Star, constable Wendy Drummond, who is part of the Integrated Security Unit, which will oversee delegate safety during the event, said: "They should be at 95 per cent now. It's very close to completion."

As well as high security fencing and a number of access control points being put in place, downtown Toronto has had some of its more notable landmarks removed to avoid potential vandalism attacks - including three bronze elephants that are usually found in Commerce Court.

Installation of high security fencing and access control points ahead of the G20 began on Monday June 7th.ADNFCR-3337-ID-19848979-ADNFCR
