Cardiff is to shut one of its busiest roads for two weeks to make improvement works in preparation for the Olympic Games.
Westgate Street will be subject to road resurfacing and the installation of electrical security bollards ahead of the 'greatest show on Earth' coming to the UK in July.
The council warned in March that the road could be set for disruption when the work takes place but officials believe that it will improve the appearance of the area around the Millennium Stadium which will host a number of Olympic football games.
Cardiff city council has said that this work is "essential maintenance" to enhance the road for residents and visitors. Sections of the street will be closed from April 16th to April 30th.
Gerry Toms, Millennium Stadium general manager, backed the plans for the area around the national ground, saying: "The London 2012 football tournament in Cardiff is a huge coup for Wales and for many sports fans it's an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the Olympic Games."
