A school in St Albans has installed new metal railings after parents voiced concerns over their children's safety.
Parents of pupils at Bernard Heath Infants' School thought their children could be at risk from speeding cars that drove past the school. Those fears have now been alleviated after the council installed a barrier on the edge of the road.
The St Albans Review reported that councillor Salih Gaygusuz was conducting a survey of the area when the parents raised the concern and now they are happy to see the authority has taken action.
Resident Penny Burgess, whose child attends the school, said "I am very pleased with the new railings. It is reassuring to know that our local councillor Salih has listened to and acted on our concerns."
Elsewhere, schools in Cumbria welcomed the council's decision to install calming traffic measures in the area, making it safer for children going to school.
