Play area fencing has been unveiled after a playground in Norton was reopened following a £70,000 grant.

Stockton Council, along with local residents and schoolchildren, designed the new facility at The Blue Hall recreation ground and worked closely with Blue Hall Residents' Association, reports gazettelive.co.uk.

The park now has new play equipment, including a slide, zip line and four different types of swing.

Councillor Steve Nelson, cabinet member for housing and community safety, told the news provider that many improvements have been made, including new fencing.

"The safety improvements include a new CCTV camera, linked directly to the council's security and surveillance centre in Stockton, along with gates and fencing around the boundary of the ground," he explained.

"Closing the site at night will make a big difference."

Last week, it was announced that £38,000 of investment has been made into Sandbach Park, Crewe, including a new toddlers' play area.
