A nursery that had some of its pupils escape undetected through a gap in its play area fencing has been inspected by Ofsted.
According to thisishullandeastriding.co.uk, Teeny Tots Nursery, in Anlaby, was investigated by the education standards group when worried parents voiced their concerns.
Children had been seen exploiting a gap in security fencing and escaping through it. They were found safe and well, but the nursery is close to a busy main road.
Ofsted said: "We carried out an unannounced visit to the premises and found the provider did not notify Ofsted of a significant event when children were able to leave the premises unsupervised. The children were able to leave the premises as a result of a broken fence panel.
"This is a failure to comply with requirements and is an offence."
The fence has since been repaired and the site is now secure.
Dangers posed by leaving security fencing in a state of disrepair are significant. Last month allotment holders in Worcester called for their security fencing to be fixed after an attempted break-in.
