There are increased fears over safety in Swindon after a set of metal railings were removed by the council in a bid improve a busy road.
As part of a regeneration project officials took away the vandalised barriers from outside a youth centre on Faringdon Road but a worker in the ATB Shop near to the site has raised concerns over pedestrian safety.
Diana Kirk told the Swindon Advertiser that she has seen cars mounting the pavements which could put passers by at risk on the usually busy road.
Bosses at Swindon Council are aiming to clean up the town as part of a project to improve the appearance of the area and have said that they will remove over 100 pieces of "street clutter" as part of the operation.
Ms Kirk told the source: "There is a primary school down there and a playgroup. It is only a matter of time before someone is hurt. All it needs is for someone not really paying attention at the traffic lights and mounting the kerb."
