A group of residents have held a street party to celebrate the installation of security fencing that will combat anti-social behaviour in their area.

According to 24dash.com, people living in flats on Hazell Road, in Prestwood, Buckinghamshire, have been unhappy and concerned for some time about gangs of youths congregating on the steps of residences at night.

But now that new high security fencing has been installed, the residents are delighted, and even held a party earlier this week to celebrate.

Paradigm Housing, who owns the properties, worked with local police and residents to draw up a security fencing plan. It will now be very difficult for non-residents to enter Hazell Road, or to use the communal grounds as a short-cut.

Funding for the project came from Thames Valley Police, who contributed £8,000, and Paradigm, who injected £10,000.

Acting sergeant Rhianne Connor, of Thames Valley Police, told the news provider: "This kind of job is really important in demonstrating the important role people play in the area they live and that by working with the police, council and housing association they have managed to be a part of the solution."

Earlier this month a community group in Crewe said it was proposing the development of high security fencing to deal with a similar problem.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800055386-ADNFCR
