The effectiveness of security bollards in protecting children's play areas has been highlighted.

According to, Gloucester City Council has spent £10,000 to introduce a range of safety precautions after reports that people were driving motorbikes and leaving burnt-out cars at Longlevens play area.

Security bollards and motorcycle barriers have since been installed, the news provider said.

"Through talking to residents the council found out where priority areas were for parks which needed some attention across the city. This was one of those areas," Martyn White, city council cabinet member for heritage and leisure, told the news provider.

"We tackled anti-social behaviour issues, by installing the bollards to stop vehicle access."
