Local residents in Alnwick have raised concerns over plans to erect high security fencing around a local school.
The 1.8 metre metal security fencing is expected to cost in the region of £20,000 to install.
According to The Journal, a number of families who live close to Lindisfarne Middle School, in Alnwick, have registered their opposition to the security fencing.
The main reason for objection from local residents is the high cost of the installation.
Speaking to the news provider, Alnwick councillor Gordon Castle said: "Enhanced safeguarding standards are being imposed by Ofsted and the headteacher is concerned that the school could fail its inspection on security grounds."
However, he added that "putting up a security fence costing more than £20,000 is over the top".
Lindisfarne Middle School headteacher Dr Lynn Rose told the newspaper that the high security fencing issue was being discussed by school governors.
A high security fencing planning application for Whiteleaf Golf Club is currently being considered by Wycombe District Council.
