Security fencing and a pedestrian guardrail will be erected at a school freshly granted with prestigious academy status.
According to thisissomerset.co.uk, Huish Episcopi School and Science College in Langport will be removed from local authority control as its pioneering work will see it rewarded as one of only 50 schools to open as an academy.
And along with the major new development the school will improve its security fencing and install a pedestrian guardrail.
Headteacher Graham Roff told the news provider: "We are changing the type of fencing so it is more in keeping with the surrounding buildings and former church hall. The other reason is so we can have a pedestrian guard rail on the pavement by the student guidance and learning centre so we can have a gate there for students."
Huish Episcopi's new status means it will have room to devise its own curriculum strategies, have direct control over teacher pay, and change the length of the school day and term holidays.
