Security fencing is helping to protect fields that hosted an annual flower show in Somerset.

According to thisisbristol.co.uk, six temporary toilets installed for Clevedon's yearly flower event were upturned by vandals at the town's Salthouse Fields on Monday night. Sewage seeped on to the site as a result.

The incident was particularly damaging as the discharge leaked on to the field reserved to host the festival's centrepiece show event.

Members of Clevedon Flower Show committee discovered the damage on Tuesday morning.

Sue Law, secretary of the show, told the news provider: "The six loos were put face to face so no one could get inside them. The vandals pulled them apart and then tipped them over.

"It was such a good show and I find it sad that we have to have security and fencing around the site."

Security fencing proves effective for a range of preventative measures. Last month a sports field in Witham installed high security fencing after nuisance motorists caused problems and the park.
