Youngsters in Sydney, Australia, have smashed into traffic barriers after stealing a high performance car and sparking a police chase, it has been stated.

A 17-year-old driver, accompanied by three passengers aged 18, 17 and 14 respectively, have now been formally charged, according to the Herald Sun.

A stolen Audi sedan was seen by police speeding late on Saturday night in the suburb of Maroubra.
The police gave chase but the Audi escaped them, the news provider said.

A few hours later the vehicle was seen by an off-duty police officer travelling through another part of Sydney.

The night culminated in a pursuit in the Mascot area, when, according to the news source, "the vehicle failed to negotiate a right hand turn and struck a concrete barrier."

The driver and passengers were captured after crashing into the traffic barriers. All were charged with riding in a stolen car and the driver was also charged with dangerous driving, police evasion, driving without a license and drug possession.
