Supermarket group Tesco has offered to install acoustic fencing at the back of a property in Salisbury.

Canberra Road in Durrington is beset by heavy goods vehicles passing through to deliver to a nearby Tesco Extra store, according to the Worthing Herald.

An access road, originally planned for completion at the end of next month, was being built to enable greater access to the town centre.

However, completion of the access road, which will enable goods vehicles to use instead of residential streets, has stalled.

Tesco have stopped work on the road because of the local council's concern over the design of the new junction.

Kier, Tesco's building contractor, has told the council that if work does not get back underway very soon the road may not be built until spring of next year.

However, the council have agreed that work should continue, despite concerns over the road's design.

In the interim period Tesco have offered to erect an acoustic barrier around one property on the road as a temporary fencing solution.

The access road is now expected to be completed by November this year.

Earlier this month acoustic fencing was used in a lake in America in an effort to stop Asian carp from entering the water.
