Police are manning a number of high-security access control points at the G20 which resemble airport scanners, it has been claimed.
According to Toronto Star journalist Katie Daubs, police are patrolling the area just outside the high security fencing on bikes, horses and even golf carts.
She claimed that all the hotels in the area surrounding the Metro Toronto Convention Centre have strict access control policies and are only letting in legitimate guests.
Ms Daubs said that at the Metro Centre itself, "guards and police were walking briskly near a security scanner. It looked like an airport terminal".
As well as access control, the high security fencing is being used as a means of controlling traffic.
Temporary security fencing solutions have already been used to reduce access to central Toronto via the city's major highways.
Security fencing is just part of the wider traffic management solution that the city's local authority and police are implementing ahead of the summit.
