Security bollards are in dire need on a quiet road that is being abused by drivers.

Strand Lane in Holywell, north Wales, is populated by reckless motorists who treat the area like a racetrack, according to the Leader.

Residents want traffic barriers installed as an access control measure after a string of accidents.

A dog has been knocked down and one unfortunate driver has ended up in a hedge.

Residents have expressed concern that children who regularly play in the street could come to harm.

Local Geoff Evans told the news source: "Boy racers are our biggest problem. We have all been that age where we like to drive fast but this is too much.

"Our road is straight and there are no speed ramps so they use it as a race track to get to other roads. They go really fast around the bends and drive up and down at 80mph."

Concerned residents hope a proposal to erect traffic barriers submitted to the local council will be given the go-ahead.
Earlier this year a similar proposal was put forward by residents in Northampton.
