The problems posed by the removal of security fencing have been highlighted after a group of travellers moved on to an open site in Wiltshire.
According to the Gazette & Herald, the travellers moved on to the land in Chippenham after previously leaving "mountains of rubbish" on sites in nearby Westbury and Melksham.
The group, who had been moved on from their previous sites by police, headed on to the vacant Methuen Park after security fencing around its perimeter had been taken down.
Now the Ashville Group, which owns the land and is gearing up for development, is forced to wait until the travellers depart.
A spokesperson told the newspaper: "It is hugely frustrating for us, it has meant we have had to put a few things on hold.
"As far as we're concerned its breaking and entering and we are taking steps with the police to have them removed. We will be re-securing the fence and digging a ditch around the site to stop caravans being driven on."
Although it was reported the travellers left rubbish at their previous sites, staff at nearby pub the Mill House reported that they did not now seem to be causing any trouble.
