Originally built in 1871, Selsted Church of England Primary School is situated in Selsted, South East Kent. The school was initially designed to house just 140 pupils, but in recent years has undergone development to improve and modernise facilities and architecture. In 2017 the school, with support from the parents, purchased 0.65 acres of land adjacent to the playground to develop an additional outdoor learning area for the pupils. The school enlisted Mscape, a local landscaping company, to design and install their new playing field on the land previously used for agricultural purpose.

Solution
We supplied 106 metres of 1.8 metre high EuroGuard® Regular to secure the perimeter of the new outdoor learning area. A section of the field was levelled to create a sports playing area. In addition to this, a WW1 memorial garden was designed in the shape of a poppy for the pupils to decorate in remembrance of those who fought in WW1.
To accommodate for the sloping ground, our EuroGuard® Regular panels were stepped to keep a continual height along the perimeter to ensure there are no vulnerable points. EuroGuard® Regular is a popular choice for schools as its V shaped mesh profile is known for its security and durability. At 1.8 metres high, the anti-climb design makes the outdoor space safe and secure and reduces the risk of intruders being able to scale the fence and of children leaving the safety of the school grounds without permission.
The EuroGuard® Regular mesh panels were polyester powder coated Black RAL 9005, providing a pleasant and welcoming aesthetic that blends in with the surrounding natural environment and does not detract from the school’s traditional Victorian architecture. Euroguard® Regular also offers good visibility, allowing the school to quickly assess any hazards from beyond the fence line.
All our steel mesh fencing comes with a 25 year guarantee, so the school can focus on providing education to their pupils without worrying about perimeter security.
