The changing face of perimeter security
Terrorism, contamination, disruption to infrastructure and services, active protest, assault, invasion of privacy, high stakes theft and litigation are among the new threats faced by governments, corporations and public in the 21st Century; joining a list that includes organised theft, pilfering and acts of vandalism.
And while technology and increased intelligence gathering has made a major contribution in managing threats, there is a growing realisation that they have to work in harness with more conventional, tried and tested solutions. The devastation and disruption following the 1993 car bomb in Bishopsgate that led to the ‘Ring of Steel' around London's Square Mile proves that there is no substitute for physical frontline defence, so too do the failed raid on the London Dome where a JCB digger was used to smash through the perimeter fence and gates in an attempt to steal a GB £ multi-million collection of diamonds and more recently, the terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport in 2007 where a car loaded with high explosive was able to be driven up to the entrance to the main passenger terminal.
Areas and installations previously thought to be ‘safe' are now at risk to different threats from different groups, to different ends and are in the process of upgrading their frontline perimeter defences in response to the changing nature of these threats.
Following years of economic growth, there has also been a significant increase in the number of Ultra High Net Worth individuals with £15m of financial assets choosing to set up residences in the UK resulting in more individuals demanding higher levels of security to minimise the risk to personal safety, theft, kidnapping and invasion of privacy.
60 years of quality and innovation
The causes and effects of the changing nature of threats and the needs of our Customers drive the products we design and manufacture and the services we support them with.
It's what we have been doing at Jacksons since 1947, initially in timber fencing to serve the farming community and public and from the mid 1980's, steel fencing and gates for a diverse range of applications, from government departments to commerce and industry.
And while the world may have changed significantly in those 60 years, we have remained faithful to our founding principles; to design and manufacture the best possible products, backed by the best possible service and to put our staff and Customers first in everything we do.
The reassurance of Guaranteed Quality
It's this adherence to quality and confidence in our people, products and processes that has allowed us to guarantee our timber products against rot and insect attack for 25 years, to offer a 25 year service life guarantee on our steel fencing and gates and to provide a 25 month parts and labour guarantee on automated access products and solutions.
