Residents in Banff may have forced a developer to remove sections of high security fencing and reinstate a public right of way - despite a series of vandalism attacks on the company's property.

Ladysbridge Village Ltd closed the public footpath on its land, redirecting walkers around the perimeter of its site, which was secured with high security fencing.

However, residents complained to their local council that the quality of the new footpath was poor and jeopardised the safety of those using it.

Scottish Government reporter Roger Wilson told the Banffhsire Journal: "The ball is now in the court of Aberdeenshire Council planning department, which will have to talk to the developers. We have gone as far as we can as objectors."

The developers claim that the high security fencing was a necessity after a spate of vandalism attacks resulted in damage to the company's property.

Residents in Wisbech campaigned for the erection of high security fencing at a church in the region after a number of similar vandalism attacks, reported the Fenland Citizen.ADNFCR-3337-ID-19876020-ADNFCR
