Barriers are being put up at a park-and-ride site in Aberdeen to stop people setting up illegal encampments, it has been reported.
Concern from politicians and residents has led to the work at the site next to the city's Exhibition and Conference Centre, the Press & Journal reports.
This month, half a dozen caravans moved onto the land after a group of people were evicted from another site in Stonehaven.
The Scottish government recently outlined plans to inject £157,000 to help restrict access at the park-and-ride spot, at the Bridge of Don.
Work to put up the barriers is now underway and is expected to be completed by the end of next week.
Councillor Willie Young told the newspaper: "I am delighted the city council has at last seen sense and that barriers are being progressed at the Bridge of Don park-and-ride car park."
Recently, barriers were put up at allotments in Wokingham to curb criminals who had been targeting the site. The town council, which owns the site, had tried other security measures but found they were not effective.
