County Durham estate gets playground

County Durham estate gets playground
Residents in the area of Bishopsgarth in the north-east have fought for the development of a new playground for children.

According to the Gazette, the County Durham-based Bishopsgarth Association of Residents (BAR) worked closely with Stockton Council to improve the region in a number of areas and the installation of play area fencing is the latest project to succeed.

The organisation secured £120,000 of funding in order for the development to go ahead, which now provides a safe and stimulating environment for young children living in the area.

Barbara Warren, who founded the group with Edna Marwood, said: "It has all been worthwhile. It's good to see youngsters using this area safely. It's given our estate a focal point."

The Bournemouth Echo recently reported that New Milton Town Council has given planning approval for the Long Meadow in Barton-on-Sea to have a playground built after a long battle between residents and parents was concluded, meaning that play area fencing is set to be installed.
