Security fencing will be installed at a music festival in Surrey as part of an effort to crack down on trouble.
Redfest, which runs over two days in July and expects to welcome up to 5,000 revellers, has been given the go-ahead by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, but only on condition that organisers ensure extra security measures are implemented.
Last year, over 2,000 music fans attended the festival, which is held at a farm near Redhill. But some residents claimed that there was alcohol-fuelled disorder during the event.
Under the new security plans, more robust security fencing will go up around the site's perimeter, two police officers will be there until 04:00 on both days, and wristbands will be used to identify revellers under the age of 18.
Promoter Matthew Nichols was quoted by the news provider as telling a recent licensing hearing: "We don't accept that as a festival gets bigger and more successful there is going to be more public nuisance.
"I think measures put in place this year will actually reduce the public nuisance."
