High security fencing, crash barriers and biometric fingerprint readers are some of the high-tech defences installed by Alchemy Metals in its state of the art factory in Hertfordshire.

A 7000v Gallagher power intelligent fence, walls lined with Guardwire armoured sensor cable and crash barriers and fingerprint readers dotted around entrances and exits across the site will factory will maintain high levels of security for staff and customers alike.

In addition to those mechanisms, rooftop lasers and motion sensor cameras will provide even greater safety at the 76,320 sq ft site of the factory only scrap metal specialist, reported Engineering Capacity magazine.

The magazine reported that work on the modern facility cost approximately £1.6 million, which, in addition to the development of the security system, included the refurbishment of Alchemy's Lindemann press.

The company, which was formed in 1985, purchases and processes metal including aluminium, copper, stainless steel, titanium and tungsten. After all the metal waste is processed it is then sold to the end-user market.
