Acoustic fencing will be part of new improvements made to a waste management and recycling site in Surrey that has been granted permanent planning permission.
The site, in Shepperton, has been given permanent status by Surrey County Council, meaning its former deadline of 2016 will no longer apply, getsurrey.co.uk reports.
A majority of town councillors backed the facility at a planning and regulatory committee meeting last week.
Significant improvements will be made to the recycling site – including the installation of sound proof fencing to limit the level of noise at the closest adjacent residence.
"We are very pleased that Surrey County Council has granted us permanent planning permission for the existing community recycling centre and waste transfer station at Charlton Lane, Shepperton," said Gareth Phillips, planning manager at SITA UK.
"The committee’s decision to permanently retain this site is great news as it means that this much needed facility will no longer close in 2016 when the temporary permission expires."
