Arbroath will see the installation of new play area fencing as part of a £500,000 grant to rejuvenate the town's surroundings.

The installation of fencing was only agreed late in the process, however, after the initial report said that any new plans would not have a perimeter.

However, Angus Council has now agreed to place fencing around the new play area following a neighbourhood services committee meeting.

Local councillor Donald Morrison told the Arbroath Herald that he is glad that the council has agreed to progress with the plans.

"Looking at the committee report on the design of the area, it was suggested fencing may not be included in the first phase of the project as it would have to be funded from outwith the council's budget," he added.

Fife could also see play area fencing installed after £40,000 worth of funding was generated for a new playground, in part from the Robinsons Fruit Shoot competition.
