Brent Cross Cricklewood in north London is set for a significant redevelopment after outline planning consent was granted.
Hammerson and Standard Life Investments will work together to bring the £4 billion project to fruition. The plans aim to completely regenerate the area with the creation of 7,500 new homes, a number of offices, four new parks and a 600,000 sq ft extension of the Brent Cross Shopping Centre. The proposals were initially given the go-ahead in 2010 but since then there has been a number of additions pushing the development back to 2014.
Work on the first phase of the development could start towards the end of 2015 and will see Hammerson and Standard Life Investments double the size of the Hendon shopping centre. Brent Cross will also be home to improved streets and a large transparent canopy to protect the retail space. Images show a redesigned shopping centre akin to Leeds Trinity which also has this type of roof.

Brent Cross sits in north London and despite being a small part of the English capital it manages to attract visitors from all over the city thanks to the shopping centre. This development is akin to the Westfield centres in both Stratford and Shepherds Bush. By being able to give Brent Cross the facelift it needs will help to encourage yet more visitors to the area while also improving amenities for locals.
