Crash barriers will remain in place in Brentwood over the weekend despite calls for them to be removed to help with traffic over the bank holiday weekend.

Brentwood Borough Council has said that works should continue on the M25 between junction 29 and 30 from tomorrow (August 26th) to Monday because it would cost money to clear everything away.

Tony Sleep, who is chairman of the council's highways and localism panel, told that the "quicker they get it done the better" and that it is "definitely needed".

He added: "The restriction and flow of traffic isn't too bad, but it's worse at peak times so if residents can avoid those peak times.

"I'd be very reluctant to stop the work, the cost of that comes on to the bill, it does not make sense for the length of it to take it all away and put it back again just for a few days."

Loch Ness will also have crash barriers in place as safety work continues nearby following a landslide.
