Security bollards along one Bolton road have been the subject of much debate over recent months, and it seems that people's criticisms are showing no signs of abating.

The security bollards on High Street had been out of action for several months after several concerns were raised about their safety, with motorists saying that the associated signage was too confusing.

Furthermore, drivers believed they were not being given sufficient warning about when the security bollards would appear from the ground, leading to some cars being severely damaged.

Victoria Wolny, director of Cherringtons Dry Cleaners in Market Place, told the Burton Mail that even though the bollards had ceased operation for around two months, nothing appears to have changed.

"It's very sporadic - sometimes they're working and other times they're not, so you never quite know where you are with them," she commented.

Lambeth Council recently asked local residents to put forward their ideas on how to improve the area, which may include the installation of security bollards and other safety features.
