A motorist that drove his car into a house in Pickering is set to appear before Scarborough Magistrates Court.
Residents returning home from New Year celebrations had a lucky escape after the 19-year-old driver ploughed through some metal railings and into the property. Police were called to the scene and the man was arrested for drink driving.
The Gazette & Herald reported that the crash attracted a number of people to the scene which included a 54-year-old man that was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, who was taken into custody and given an £80 fine.
Sergeant Daniel Spence, who was called to the site, told the source: "At the time of the collision, the town centre was busy with people out enjoying the New Year festivities. It was fortunate that no one was injured."
Elsewhere, business owners next to Muirtown Locks, Inverness, have called for more safety measures to be installed after a man died driving his car into the Caledonian Canal.
