A playground in Cardiff is to undergo a major refurbishment with a community group looking to raise £4,000.

It is hoped that the play area in Llandaff North park will see the security fencing erected in the near future to create an equipment-filled modern facility that children of all ages will be able to enjoy.

The Friends of Hailey Park is aiming to raise the cash to go toward the £40,000 needed to complete the work. The group applied for the grant but was told that it needs to generate ten per cent of the funds themselves.

Lewys Wotton, from the group, told WalesOnline: "We held an auction in the local pub and all different groups are getting involved; the community is working together. We are trying to do as many different things as possible to get everyone involved."
The community organisation currently has over 100 members and was founded in 2007 carrying out volunteer work across Cardiff.
