One church in Ireland is to be better protected against metal theft through the installation of a security bollard.
St Corban's Cemetery in Naas saw lead stripped from its roof last week, leading officials in the area to consider ways of improving security measures.
Naas mayor councillor Darren Scully confirmed to the Leinster Leader that Naas Town Council will be putting a security bollard at the entrance to the cemetery.
This will be put in place every day after the caretaker has finished his duties for the day.
Mr Scully commented: "It means people will not be able to drive into the cemetery after normal working hours."
Durham Constabulary recently revealed that it was clamping down on metal thefts throughout County Durham and Darlington by working closely with those who run scrap yards in the area.
Anyone who sees a vehicle transporting scrap metal is asked to report it to the police.
