Children in Bath are rejoicing as the council brought down the security fencing and reopened a play area in the Newbridge area of the city.

Bath and North East Somerset Council replaced the old play equipment that had come to the end of its life with brand new facilities costing £35,000.

The Brassmill Lane play area will now have exciting play features such as a new climbing frame, slide, spinning dish and other toddler-related items that will encourage wholesome activities in the vicinity for years to come.

It is just one of a number of facilities being opened across the country as a play area in Fillongley, Tamworth, had the honour of having a refurbished vintage tractor as the star attraction as part of its play park.

Caroline Roberts, Newbridge ward councillor, said: "Children in the area are bound to get even more enjoyment out of the play park now and I'm sure they're also very pleased with everyone's efforts to bring about the improvements."
