Newport Village Tennis Club's courts were resurfaced after "20 years of hard work", while the perimeter sports netting was also updated.
Chairman Sean Murphy said he wanted to thank everyone involved in the project, which was completed after grants were awarded by the Essex Community Initiatives Fund and the Stansted Airport Community Trust.
He also paid tribute to Uttlesford District Council and Newport Parish Council for their "generous support and help".
"Great news, after some 20 years of hard work the tennis courts have been resurfaced and the perimeter netting renewed. They look fantastic," Mr Murphy wrote on the club website.
Meanwhile, Tim Henman has being doing his bit to keep people in London playing tennis, the Evening Standard reports.
He apparently made a "personal plea" to Hounslow Council committee members over Dukes Meadows sports centre in Chiswick after planning officers recommended the rejection of retrospective planning permission for five new courts complete with sports netting.
