Grimsby Town's iconic Pontoon security gates are to be renamed in honour of a late supporter, thanks to a group of the club's supporters.
Matty Dawson, a lifelong Marriners fan who died aged 20 in August after a four-year cancer battle, will be one of the names along with Richard Broadley who died in October, also aged just 20.
The Louth Leader reported that members of TheFishy.co.uk raised £220 between them, as part of an auction run by Grimsby Town, to buy the naming rights to the iconic gates. When the club heard of the effort the auction was immediately stopped and given to the supporters groups' cause donating all proceeds to charity.
Work will begin soon and has been described as a "fitting tribute" to the pair who followed their club through thick and thin.
Elsewhere, a councillor from Cookstown is lobbying to have the Black Gate at Drum Manor Forest Park reopened.
